Young People Flourish (YPF)

YPF is a Glasgow City Council Funded Project the project is also supported by other short term / activity specific funding

The project works with Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) young people (aged 7yrs – 25yrs) with a specific focus on Pollokshields & Govanhill. We also work with the Roma community within schools in the Pollokshields & Govanhill area.

The Project delivers a wide range of activity across both communities & 3 local secondary schools

This includes general youth work activities from: young men & women’s groups, youth clubs, campfire sessions to sporting & creative activities. We also run & support holiday program's & specific thematic program's e.g. fireworks prevention and drugs education

This project also delivers detached street work sessions (area partnerships) engaging young people disengaged from activity which may lead to anti-social behaviour or other concerning behaviour. Street work staff engage young people in conversation around a wide range of issues, this includes employability, mental health & wellbeing. Staff also engage in crisis interventions with young people. This can include violence / drugs & alcohol / family & mental health issues.

We also deliver a school specific program – Living Your Best Life. Which seeks to support participants in addressing the realities of their lived experiences in a supportive safe & developmental space. The programme encourages & provides participants with an opportunity to begin REFRAMING THEMSELF & their own PROGRESSION paths.

At the heart of both YCSA & YPF is the concept of Active Civics – we support all our participants to not only be a leader for their self-progression & development but also to consider community & communities. Young people bring CHANGE & YCSA YPF is committed to supporting & equipping these future leaders with the skills, knowledge, attributes, experiences & opportunities to PRACTICE & LEARN about their future leadership roles.
